The Spanish word imaginarios comes from the Latin word imaginari, which means "to form a mental picture, picture to oneself, imagine". Each piece of this exhibition are windows into my imaginaries, those worlds deeply rooted in my memories, fantasies, and fears. Painting has been a cathartic exercise, a constant encounter, fight, and love with myself.
Imaginaries is a compilation of work that date from 2021 to today, mostly ink and watercolor on paper. I am addicted to the danger of working with these mediums, once you have placed a brushstroke of ink on the paper there is no coming back, the paper has been tainted, scared… like life, I guess.
