Victory Lap - Melbourne Fringe Festival

  • Artemisia Gallery & Event Space 248 High Street Windsor, VIC, 3181 Australia (map)

Award-winning production company Pansy Productions returns to Melbourne Fringe with a brand-new season!

Heartfelt, poignant, and imbued with a profound and existential sense of contemplation, Victory Lap is a semi-autobiographical one-person show written and directed by Mashaka Gunnulson (they/them) in their authorial debut. This new work stars Adam Marks (he/ him) as the poetic storyteller Billy, reflecting on his disjointed life while navigating his twenties, experiencing and understanding grief in its various forms, and attempting to stay grounded and connected through the loss of love.

Since founding Pansy Productions in 2021, Artistic Director Alistair Ward’s intention has always been to produce original writing by diverse voices that reflects the world we’re living in, and authentically breaks down barriers with raw, honest storytelling. Through their creative partnership and friendship of over a decade, Mashaka and Alistair are thrilled to be returning to the Melbourne Fringe Festival after their People’s Choice Award winning sold-out run of ‘twenty-something’ in 2019.

This one-person show will be presented at the Artemisia Gallery, a queer-owned and operated, women-led, independent art space located on High St in the heart of Windsor. With featured music and a performance by virtuosic contemporary cellist Anita Quayle (she/her) at the Opening Night Soiree, this play is a multidisciplinary experience brought to you by a creative team passionate about collaboration, inclusion, and diversity of expression.

“Held gently within the narrative is an exploration of what it is to love and to lose.”
