I was drawn to return to painting which provided solace after the loss of my beautiful partner, Kate. The subject matter that evolved from this period - cloudscapes.
Clouds have a rich tradition and artists often used weather to reflect human emotions and the passage of time. Dutch landscape painters created dramatic cloudscapes to represent fleeting moments and profound feelings of impermanence.
Romantic artists were fascinated with the power and ethereal beauty of the natural world. Clouds in art history are more than just water and rain, they convey deep meanings and moments of resonance.
