Sequences by Fabric Layerism/Mark Ewenson

  • Artemisia Gallery & Event Space 248 High St Windsor Australia (map)

“This exhibition showcases a way of presenting a sequence of digital photographic process shots of the evolution of a picture, a concept explored since the early days of photography. The canvas print ‘sequences’ show my own particular collage art form ‘Fabric Layerism’ in process, beginning with a line drawing, then a number of stages of adding and layering fabrics, mediums, drawing and other collage elements, through to the finished work. In addition, there are some enhancements and variations done for each print, so each work is an original one off version.”

Stemming from a creative life as both musician and visual artist in the 1980’s, Mark has specialized in mixed media painting, drawing and collage since the 1990’s.

From 2011, Mark has created a unique convergence of collage and textile art which he has named Fabric Layerism; a rich aesthetic of fabrics, adhesives, drawing, and photography. Focusing on the beauty of diverse feminine forms, this art form embraces influences from the ancient & classical to the contemporary of this enduring and evolving theme.

Since 1991, Mark has exhibited in 21 solo and 50 group exhibitions.
