Max Burstin

I am a Melbourne-based artist who works primarily with acrylic paints. My focus is on detailed line-work that explores various themes, moods and landscapes. In my work, I am drawn to contrast, specifically how opposing themes can compliment one another. I explore this through the use of dark and light colour schemes and the intertwining of smooth and sharp patterns.

Through this, I aim to create pieces of art that are both abstract and figurative, with a sense of fluidity that is achieved through definition and precision.

Encounters with Grace

My beloved partner of 25 years, Kate, passed away from cancer in 2021. She was the love of my life and my whole world. The next few years were a struggle to say the least. I was encouraged by well-meaning friends and family to start painting again. Eventually and reluctantly, I picked up a brush and spent the last year or so painting, thinking and repainting. This series entitled “Encounters with Grace”, represents my way back and I dedicate it to Kate and the love of those who helped me through.

Margot O’Callaghan

Art, like music enhances our life.  It brings pleasure to the eye and the mind; evokes happiness,  and stimulates thought and  humour, creating an ambience in our environments.

I enjoy making art for all these reasons and for the enjoyment of the process. I like working with acrylic on canvas and pencil and charcoal sketches.  I often find myself wanting to paint nature or at least my version of it. I don’t  expect to do it justice but rather pay tribute to it. I also enjoy painting in abstract which gives some freedom to focus on  colour and movement

I hope you get some pleasure from my work also.
