In the Living Room

14-channel sound installation with live instruments and vocal sampling

In the Living Room is a sonic meditation on the interior landscapes of early motherhood - its silences and ruptures, its aching tenderness, its shadowed corners. It is an artist’s reckoning with postpartum depression - love, and loss. n Expressed through emergent fragments of poetry to create a meditative sonic space in which survival and the complexity of maternal experience are voiced and honoured.

The installation unfolds across a 14-channel speaker system, immersing the listener in spoken word samples - tender, raw, and unyielding - cradled by the textures of live instrumental recordings. Evoking the nonlinear rhythms of memory, care, exhaustion and love that define the early months of parenthood, the living room becomes both physical and metaphorical - part sanctuary, part pressure chamber. It is a threshold between isolation and connection, exhaustion and grace, where transformation takes place.

Olivia will be performing live throughout the opening night celebration. Friday 1st August, 6-8.30pm.
