Walking into people’s kitchens and responding to life as it is, has inspired these works. A dynamic space, kitchens are the heart of the household. I love seeing all these randomly placed objects tell a story of those who are living there. Working from photos taken on the spot, I make small thumbnail sketches which are developed into larger scale drawings and paintings. I’m fascinated by the interrelationship between the forms, shapes and colours. The challenge is creating a cohesive whole within a composition without losing the feel of the space.
