Colori d’Italia is an exploration in colour, inspired by travels to Italy and surrounds. Colours differ according to seasons, climate, atmospheric lighting, the surrounding landscape and many other variables. As an artist, travelling provides an opportunity to face a fresh set of variables, creating a launchpad for personal expression through the interpretation of colour. Artworks in this exhibition have been created throughout both summer and winter in Italy, capturing varying lighting conditions and the changing landscape.
Aidan is a Melbourne-based landscape painter who works mainly with oil paints. He is drawn to bold, expressive use of colour and texture, continuing and expanding the tradition of the Impressionists. Paintings are a mix of studio work and en plein air, always drawing inspiration from the landscape whilst simultaneously looking introspectively to explore personal connection and voice.
