Diving among coral reefs, beneath the surface, I am drawn to the intricate world of macro sea life — the delicate organisms, their symbiotic relationships, and the unexpected colour that emerge in quiet, hidden spaces.
The process begins with a single form, wheel-thrown or hand built, which becomes the foundation for a growing community of smaller, hand-built elements. These fragile structures are carefully placed within and around the larger vessel, creating contained ecosystems that invite curiosity and close attention.
Porcelain Paper Clay offers the strength and translucency echoing the qualities of coral —simultaneously fragile, resilient and enduring. Through light, texture, and form, my work reflects the interdependence and vulnerability of marine life, inviting a deeper contemplation of the connections that sustain both oceanic and human worlds.
