Tracy Strange mainly resides and works at Mosquito Point , near Metung, on the Gippsland Lakes. It is a unique place for an artist and is only accessible by boat - she is quite literally immersed in the landscape .
Tracy grew up in the Western District of Victoria and the cold and Misty mornings linger in her work. She is a romantic, instinctive painter who is self taught and hard working. She works mainly in oils on board and canvas working quickly, usually without sketching. Using a variety of techniques such as washing, rubbing, dragging and re-working, Tracy creates delicate works that are both dreamy and temporal. She paints with a natural sensibility that comes with Long exposure to the landscape and hard work, filled with careful observation and memories
