The exhibition brings together two mythic feminine triads: Persephone, Demeter, and Hecate,alongside one of my own contemporary myths The Fisherman and Mermaid Tale. These sculpted works using paint and mixed media are indicative of my practice in which I merge Ancient Archetypes and Hellenic painting traditions with modern narratives.
Efrossini Chaniotis is a Greek - Australian painter and sculptor passionate about exploring storytelling through art. She studied Sculpture at the South Australian School of Art and then went overseas from 1992 to 2000 where she completed a second Fine Arts Degree at the Athens School of Fine Art, majoring in Painting. Winner of the ‘Lecturer’s Prize for consecutive years in Athens, in 3rd year she was granted a scholarship to study at the Madrid School of Fine Art. More recently Efrossini was awarded the Gippsland Sculpture Prize among many renowned Australian Sculptors.
