Basketmakers of Victoria is Defying your Expectations of what basketmaking is!

Celebrating our 40th Anniversary as a vibrant community organisation, we are dedicated to the art of basketry and fibre art. We are curious in our endeavours, inspired by nature and its offerings, and in many cases, this is how we make sense of our personal experiences.

With an emphasis on sustainability and care for the environment, we ‘explore the new’ while honouring the past through age old techniques, skills and patience as a means of artistic expression. The process from gathering fibres through to completion of a piece may take more than a year.

Basketmakers of Victoria’s Defying Expectations Exhibition is where you will enjoy artwork to contemplate, inspire and treasure.
