Cherished Commodities is an exploration into the value and soul we place onto collectibles. Through a series of oil paintings depicting various items I collected, I explore the emotional connection between the self and inanimate objects.
Repurposed vintage toys, dining objects, porcelain decor, and figurines. Each adored and all meticulously recreated, isolated onto a pastel background and featured singularly, as opposed to their usual lost selves within the bazaar. For some this is their first life, for others they have been found and lost many times before. Their identities transform throughout the ages depending on their host, yet captured and cemented through the act of painting.
