There’s a reason the cliche images of the space of transformation is a cocoon or the tadpole growing legs to change habitats. Some parts of changing require isolation and other parts of it need you to take action, take a leap into the unknown. This body of work is all the feelings and thoughts that come up in the space of becoming. There is no rebirth without death and there is no soaring high to chase your wildest dreams without taking that leap and spreading your wings.

Sharya Wick is an emerging artist exploring themes of hybridity and autofiction. She enjoys learning and working across varying mediums, in this collection bringing together works on paper and canvas using gouache, watercolor and mixed media and stepping out of the frame using clay. With a background in illustration and animation, her work often features storytelling and worldbuilding, blending the natural world with fantastical elements to express the complexities of human emotion.
