Maddison Lauren Trezise
Maddison Lauren Trezise is a Ceramic Artist living on Wadawurrung land (Ballarat).
She explores complex themes articulated from her inner world through a queer feminist lens, subverting the decorative arts to say more. The foundations of her practice are multidisciplinary though Ceramics now sits at the fore. Exploring complex themes around feminism, myth and mysticism and using the gestural and direct nature of clay to channel visions and express her inner world into form.
Currently hyper fixated on porcelain and the creation of heirloom pieces that critique the invisible labour of the feminine in our society and the effects patriarchal opression has on the planet and its children.
Co-founder of the Ballarat Clay Collective with Steph Wallace and Ruby Pilven in 2024, Maddison is passionate about supporting a vibrant and sustainable Ceramics community. In March this year (2025), She also established Studio Ceramics Ballarat to run wheel throwing and hand-building classes from her home studio in Ballarat.
Maddison is passionate about teaching, inspiring, activating and sharing her knowledge. She uses her artistic voice as a way to advocate for gender equity and women’s rights.
