Konatsu Honda
Born Tokyo, Japan
Graduated Bachelor of Fine Art Sydney in 2007. Dual resident of Japan and Australia and regularly holds exhibitions in both countries.
Konatsu’s works play with dimensions and visualizing reminiscence in the dark. She has invented unique techniques with intricately engraved glasses, acrylic panels, and paper cut-outs which are then layered, and assembled along with lights. Flicking the light switch would bring illusional sceneries to appear in the dark to bring the viewers into an alternative dimension where it holds its own time frame. Konatsu’s works link her to the viewer by sharing the notion of revisiting vague memories and lucid dreamscapes.
This marble series was made as a Lucky charm, designed to personally attach with the viewer/owner.
Each marble carries its own fable and characters which are inspired by observing nature closely and experiencing notable moments.
Those collected anecdotes are engraved onto the whole surface of the sphere and set on the particularly designed light stand which glows imprints in the dark to define the imagery.
Illuminated marble invites the viewer to touch and turn to discover and participate in encapsulated stories.
